Baby making

I had to make a "themed" blog for one of my classes and update it every day.
I had a very perfect theme in front of me.

Check out my baby blog: babymakingbybecky.blogspot.com

Other People

others have good things to say.

If I send you to a blog it's because reading made me feel emotions.

Maybe excitement and eekness: Uganda!!

Or that tickley feeling where I want to have a baby to love: Blissful Inspiration

Or imaginative. by needing to imagine all the good things that could come of this: Fatty Contest

All I have to say today is what you guys are saying too.

So you know how there are seagull sounds

when you click on my blog?

It's that bear movie from a few posts back.
It automatically plays for some reason.

It was supposed to be the trailer for Food Inc. I swear that I copied the link right from the Food Inc website.
I didn't even know it was bear video until Lana left a comment asking about it.

Travis keeps saying I should change it because it's both nonsensical and annoying.

But I can't.
Because I think it's really quite funny.

Now you know!

(Say that the way they say it in Bill Nye)

A friend recently had this first video on her blog. I find it to be most hilarious.
Her blog is usually filled with tidbits of genius and I love it.
Watch this. Do it. Watch it all the way through.

Near the beginning, especially you will be tempted to turn it off, but stick with it because it happens to be great.

If you don't have twenty minutes to watch these both (YOU SHOULD) then watch the second instead of the first because it's funnier. If you do have twenty minutes then watch the first one and then the second because the first is a really good intro to the series.

Oh British people. You are funny.

The Blue Bookcase

So, I love books.

(If you read this blog often you're probably laughing that I said that, since it's like me saying "So, I breathe oxygen." Yes, you're thinking, we already know.)

I found a book blog that I like! That, as you might NOT know, is a big deal since usually when I find a book blog it's like this:

Sloppy electric green background with words in some horrible unreadable color like purple.
One blog author who has one genre of book she reads, like Young Adult Fantasy.
Said blog author is pretentious and rarely likes books, but cannot give any real substantial reasons for disliking these books.
When she does like books it is again for unknown reasons.
She describes only one book every few weeks when she finishes reading them.
When "reviewing" books she uses words like "Believable" and "likable" and other words that end in "able."

Yes, I used purple to confuse and disturb you.

I hate these blogs. They make me feel sad.
SO when I found The Blue Bookcase, imagine my NOT sadness. In fact, imagine my joy!
Their blog is simple and pretty. They write clearly and positively about many genres of books. And yes! I'm saying THEY because it's more than one person writing reviews!
Check out the Little Blue Bookcase, and check out their book giveaway!

Tyler + Jessica

**oops, I started this several days ago and then forgot to actually post it! I just saved it in my drafts.
Anyway, here it is.

Check out some of Jessica and Tyler's engagement pictures on my photoblog.
Also, my website, which is still slowly being worked over, is starting to look more like a real website.... a little. So check that out too. Sure most of the folders are empty, but after I actually edit and post pictures the food section will be filled with food I didn't personally bake and the wedding folders will have more than one wedding.
All in time. I just have to be more pro-active in working on it.

Pretty Things

I have a folder on my desktop titled Pretty Things in which daily I add pictures of spring dresses, wildflower bouquets, bedspreads, bookcases (A LOT of bookcases), bedrooms, swimsuits, fanciful weddings, flower wreaths in curly hair, little girls in tutus, sun flares, people kissing, fabric, J. Crew models, buttons, bicycles, fruit, envelopes, fancy handwriting, graffiti, tattoos, books, banners, games and lots more. Really, LOTS more.
Did you stop reading and just skip to this line? Its a long list. I accidently started to repeat myself, but went through and took those things out.
Its a very full folder. It is my favorite folder.
Because I love perfectly girly things.
Not like lipstick, or hairspray (although I know I have a few pictures of the former) but really wonderful girly things like fresh herbs in the kitchen and baby feet and flowery, light, sunshiney wonderfulness.
Before I was married (before I was even engaged or seriously dating) the Pretty Things folder was eighty per cent wedding-related.
I had my dress and style decided on before I knew I would need a dress and style anytime soon.
Now its full of living rooms, gardens, babies, and (like I said before) about a million bookcases. I have a perfect little study already planned and painted in my mind.
But where do I get such pretty pictures, you ask?
The sidebar headed Lovely Links is home to all of my favorite blogs. Blogs of design, fashion, cooking, happiness, and so many are devoted wholly to pretty things.
So here are some of the pretty things I've seen this week and added to my folder. They make me happy to look at.

Umm, Helvetica cookie cutters anyone? LOVE it.

I'm sorry to those who I stole these from, I was going to link back to each picture but my blogger is having a fit.

Sad, sad, sad

Today I was on a friend's blog and was (I admit!) skimming a little.
If there are pictures, I tend to look at all the pictures instead of reading the whole post. (a habit I got into when Lana was in London writing SUPER long posts, with SUPER great photos.)
I saw this picture and was momentarily confused.

This is what I actually murmured aloud:
"Is that the J. Crew model?"

I scrolled up and read the rest of the post and good eye, Becky! It was a photo from the most recent J. Crew catalog, which I have yet to get (because I accidentally unsubscribed and keep stalling to REsubscribe because it feels wasteful, even though I love it.).

This seems rather pathetic to me. I don't even totally read my friend's blogs but I always read the J. Crew catalog cover to cover.
Often more than once. To the point that I saw this picture and knew who it was.

Can I help it J. Crew catalogs makes me feel happy?
I vow to try to do better. I will legitimately read your posts, friends. Not just look at the pictures.

Pumpkin Pie

As you can see, if you look above this post, my header is a pumpkin pie.

But it is so not pumpkin season anymore.
In fact, the pumpkins next to our front porch have disintegrated into a unrecognizable pile of moldy mush that blends in well with the leaves.
(note that I said leaves, not snow. What's up with this super nice weather? I haven't needed a coat all week.)

I want a new picture up there. A pretty, seasonally appropriate picture. But I have no ideas.
I have a nice pretty camera, but I don't ever take pictures of things that would make sense as a header.
Maybe I overdo pictures of food.
Maybe I could never overdo pictures of food, since pictures of food appropriately define my life.
(is that sad?)
Maybe, because that's sad, I don't want a picture of food. Especially not the food that I made last night. Because the food that I made last night was naaaasty.

Learn from my mistakes: Thai ingredients do not Pad Thai make. Thai people made Pad Thai and it is delicious, when Becky makes Pad Thai her husband says "At least these rice noodles were only 85cents. It wasn't a very expensive experiment."

When I suggested that we use the fish sauce and fresh broccoli and ginger left in the fridge and try to make stir-fry Travis said "Maybe we should practice Pad Thai first so we have at least one asian thing you can make."

Well, I'm certainly not making a picture of Pad Thai my header.
But if you have any other suggestions then tell me.

*edit: Come on guys, I didn't just throw things together and hope it turned into Pad Thai. I used a recipe!

45.4 visits daily

In May I added a visitor count to the bottom of my blog. Since then I have had 9,541 visitors to my little blog.
Dividing that by 7 months, and then again by 30 days I should have about 45 visits to my blog daily.

So here is my question: Why doesn't each of my blog posts have 45 comments?
Or, even if the 45 visits are all the same people visiting twice a day why don't I have 23 new comments every day?
Even smaller, if those 45 visits are ten people, each visiting 4, maybe 5 times a day, then why don't I have at least 10 comments?

I am not sure. This I do know: we're totally as cute as Taza and husband. (sigh... if only Travis would let me dress him up and take his picture!)

Tell your friends.

photo blog

I wanted to make a title for this post where I combined the words photo and blog, but all of my ideas were gross sounding and confusing (for example, pholog.)
But that is a digression.
Here is my point:

We have a photo blog. We're calling ourselves Tandem Bike Photography because we are doing all our photo stuff together, but that still may change. Any other ideas of names for our blossoming business? Leave them in the comments!
I have pictures from the photo shoots posted on that blog, but in case you're too lazy to click on the link (the above picture is a link!), here are some favorites:

Peays
(don't click on these pictures, it just takes you to my
photo storage, not the new blog. )

Photography

Can I take your picture?

Also, I want a pretty website that is not a blog. So if you have any suggestions on how to get a pretty website then tell me.

Travis and I have decided to be photographers.

Which means we need a pretty photo website. Not a blog. We'll probably also have that, but first, how does one get a website that isn't ugly?

Any ideas?

Aaand, to build up our currently non-existant portfolio, I want to take your picture and then create a portfolio.
I will edit them to be loooooovely.

changes

for months (literally months) I've been using one email for my blogger account, and another for everything else.
Well Hallelujah! I figured out how to switch it, and now I'm using one account for everything.
Bam.
Freaking love it.

oh, blogs.

comments

Some days I give myself a goal.
Make a comment on everyone's blog today.

Today I did not give myself that goal. But I still couldn't keep from writing on all of your blogs.

Good posts, team.

un nouveau nom

this blog's name will soon be officially changed.
Not that you care, probably.
You may notice the new header.

What do you think?

Do you love wasps?

I found this snotty man's blog and cannot stop laughing about things that he writes.
(Enter with caution, not everything's appropriate.)
As far as I can tell, David Thorne spends his time writing antagonizing emails, and mocking the people that cannot put up with him.
He mocks a man's website after the man describes himself as:
"...the adventurous outdoors type with a love of watersports and everything outdoors".

Wasps are outdoors Lesley, do you love wasps? Fuse boxes? Open cut mining? Pedestrian crossings?

He then asks for his readers to send in emails listing other things Lesley must love.
They responded with the following:

Traffic lights
Prickles
Litter
A bus
My sister Amanda
Flies
Cigarette butts
Land mines
Homeless people
Sticks
Grandma
Dark alleyways
Bins
A parking meter
Opera in the park
Feral cats
Playgrounds
Dust
Fat people at hot dog stands
Blowfish
A dead Hedgehog
Construction workers
Snipers
Shade
Airborne viruses
Mandy says Toilets
A box
Shoes because of the carpet
A Wading Pool
Graveyards
Children on a field trip
Astro-turf®
Lesley
Indians on public transport
Land Fill
Holes in fences
Sheep droppings
Tether Ball
Starving 3rd world children
A used syringe
My poodle Benny
Quicksand
Lawn Sausages
Cody Smith
For Sale signs
Boy Scouts
Peeping Toms
Lawn furniture
Flagpoles
Television Antenna's
Owl pellets
Street walkers
Forest fires
Techno Viking (?)
Public Toilets
Yellow Snow
Dirty Redfern Locals
Vomit outside a pub
Speed bumps
Lost kittens
Free Candy Vans
Cement
Garden Gnomes

Honestly, I cannot stop giggling. Now I feel silly when I say that I am "Loving Every Minute" of anything.
Obviously I don't love every single minute.

love

I said that to Travis, and he responded with "Yeah, they're like on your blog, and they're like 'They're so cute! BLEGH!' They vomit on their keyboard."

He's silly.
That's a gross thought.

p.s. I know people visit my blog, because I have over a thousand visitors a month, but you'd think I'd get a comment every once and a while.
Of my last ten posts I think half have one comment, and the rest have none.
It makes me feel sad, considering how often and earnestly I check my email looking for comments. Let me know if you were here.
I'm feeling all dejected and such.

they're going to keep coming today

I cannot stop writing. You're going to get a bunch of posts today.
I want to address the fact that I am in love.
(Yes with Travis, the best and cutest finacé in the world) But that's not who I am taking about it.
I'm talking about the women who write blogs that are AMAZING.
Do you want to form a club? Will you let me join?
I'd offer to be the secretary, except that you're all better at writing than I am.

Here they are. These are my new favorite blogs in the whole internet world:

(as previously addressed)

(from the author of Le Love, a blog I've adored for months. Also, Trav wants me to cut my hair like this.)

Color Me Katie

She has inspired me. Tonight I'm really going to spulrge on food, and spend two dollars (that IS a lot for me) on food coloring.

All Stripes.

(Okay, I know that it is for a company, but it's one of my favorite, favorite blogs.)

I, of course, have many other favorites which I am forced (by my OCD) to check daily, they can be found on my side bar under Lovely Links.
Look at them for some inspiration and beauty.
Click on the pretty pictures to head to their pretty blogs. Pretty, pretty, pretty.

so...

you know when you find a blog that seems to perfectly, and effortlessly voice exactly how you feel?
Oh yeah. I found that blog.

So about what I said...

(Even just now when I WROTE effortlessly, I had to sit and think for like two minutes of the word "effortlessly" because I could only think of the word "easilessly" which of course is NOT a word, and is the opposite of what I want. )

Also, when obsessively reading my new favorite blog (maybe I love it because of her admitted tendency to over share, something I also have a problem with), I came upon THIS freaking awesome post.
You go girl. She addresses the completely ridiculous interview between Marie Claire and Jessica Valenti, author of The Purity Myth.
Just to give you a preview, here are some of the absurd quotes from the interview:

"Virginity and chastity are reemerging as a trend in pop culture, in our schools, in the media, and even in legislation."

"The lie of virginity — the idea that such a thing even exists — is ensuring that young women's perception of themselves is inextricable from their bodies."

"The main misconception of virginity is that it exists! There's no medical definition. It's a completely cultural invention. It's such a huge deal and yet it's so amorphous. There's no real way to define it at all. "
kjwfiuwqbnxfh ewfheklru! I AM BAFFLED. Too baffled for words. No such thing as virginity.
I almost feel the need to start spouting some scripture.
Even if this wasn't a religious dilemma for me, HOLY COW, this should be a point of controversy for every woman in the world who respects their body, or even... has a body.
Dang.
Please, Mel. Tell this woman off again. Because I am too baffled for words, and the writer of So about what I said... is NOT too baffled for words, but insanely calm and collected, please go read what she has to say.
I'm telling you, she's freaking brilliant.

being engaged = the best thing ever

Trav and I are having so much fun being engaged. Here's a peak into what our day to day is like. It's full of firsts, like this: this is the very first thing that we've purchased together for our home.
It was on clearance. (Can we talk later about my complete obsession with Martha Stewart? She's the BEST.) It was like a forty dollar thing, and we got it for 15! Yay Macy's! Yay Martha!
It's an expandable cutlery holder thing for the drawer.

p.s. after looking at this picture my mother said "them's child-bearing hips."

This is us painting our FIRST house together. Although, let's be honest, it's an apartment in a house, not a whole house, and we're not ACTUALLY painting in this picture. Please look at how tall he is. Please appreciate the fact that my mom is here from Montana and is spending all her time painting our house.

This was our FIRST beard contest, the rules were simple. Using only a small length of tape that we had peeled from off the walls, make a beard without looking in the mirror.
Trav's was better, but only because he had more tape. Mine ended up looking patchy.

Aaaaaalso, since we all know how much I love to blog, this blog will not die when we get married, but instead, will be reborn! The address will stay the same, so as to not confuse my heap o' readers, but the name, I think will soon change.
Because Trav and I can maybe both write, and since this blog won't really be about MY life anymore, but OUR life, we're mixing things up. But don't worry, we won't call it the "Pitcher Family Blog." That would be too confusing.

In the Brother's Bloom, at the end, there's a line that goes (basically) like this:
Penelope: Your brother told me once, there's no such thing as an unwritten life, just a badly written one.

That was our inspiration. What do you think of this new title?

And as Tigger would say, ttfn, tah-tah for now.
