Pumpkin Pie

As you can see, if you look above this post, my header is a pumpkin pie.

But it is so not pumpkin season anymore.
In fact, the pumpkins next to our front porch have disintegrated into a unrecognizable pile of moldy mush that blends in well with the leaves.
(note that I said leaves, not snow. What's up with this super nice weather? I haven't needed a coat all week.)

I want a new picture up there. A pretty, seasonally appropriate picture. But I have no ideas.
I have a nice pretty camera, but I don't ever take pictures of things that would make sense as a header.
Maybe I overdo pictures of food.
Maybe I could never overdo pictures of food, since pictures of food appropriately define my life.
(is that sad?)
Maybe, because that's sad, I don't want a picture of food. Especially not the food that I made last night. Because the food that I made last night was naaaasty.

Learn from my mistakes: Thai ingredients do not Pad Thai make. Thai people made Pad Thai and it is delicious, when Becky makes Pad Thai her husband says "At least these rice noodles were only 85cents. It wasn't a very expensive experiment."

When I suggested that we use the fish sauce and fresh broccoli and ginger left in the fridge and try to make stir-fry Travis said "Maybe we should practice Pad Thai first so we have at least one asian thing you can make."

Well, I'm certainly not making a picture of Pad Thai my header.
But if you have any other suggestions then tell me.

*edit: Come on guys, I didn't just throw things together and hope it turned into Pad Thai. I used a recipe!

Waldo and Tim join the family

Pumpkin Carving for FHE this week was a blast! Too bad I've been too sick to do anything productive this week, including writing on my blog or reading anyone else's blog.
Good news, though, I feel better and tomorrow is HALLOWEEN!
To see how my family is handling halloween, check out the Froelich Blog. Mary's kicking butt!

You are jealous of my goofy husband, aren't you? I looove him. I love this pictures. He is silly.

My pumpkin isn't as elaborate as his, because I was busy cooking and cleaning seeds. Plus it's hard to be artsy while stabbing something with a knife.
We named Travis' pumpkin Tim and mine Waldo.

Ooooh, Happy Halloween!

p.s. Our costumes are in progress and will be totally AWESOME!

Family Home Evening

As Mormons, we're asked that one night a week we have a family night, for most families that night is Monday. Our first family night was on our Honeymoon, so pretty much we laid in bed and read the Proclaimation to the World before falling asleep.

So last night was the Becky and Travis Pitcher Family's first real Family Home Evening and in our house, too!
We had big plans, you know, raking all of our leaves and jumping in them, carving our pumpkins, eating toasted seeds and oatmeal cookies.

Instead, we did all of our laundry, organized the majority of the living room, we made a tasty casserole for dinner (that really made me feel like a wife!) we did have oatmeal cookies, and then to celebrate the beginning of our family we watched one of my old home videos.
It was fantastic.

Many of you have seen the video of Chelsea dancing on the dock for a boy down the shore, unaware of my family filming from up the hill in the house.
Fewer I think have seen the video of Jack's best friend Sam trying to catch a butterfly by leaping and clutching the air, followed by his defeated stomp, hunchbacked up the hill to the house.
Combined with the elaborate film that the Haggen girls and I wrote and starred in, in which Emma was kidnapped by Kayla and saved by Mia and I, made our evening completely enjoyable, despite the lack of raking and carving.

Maybe we'll carve our pumpkins tonight.
Maybe tomorrow.
Maybe we'll save them for our next family home evening.
