There's no place like home

We're home.
I nearly cried when I saw our bed.

Luckily for you, this means that I will start posting pictures like crazy.

But not quite yet.
First, I am going to unpack.
And do some laundry.
And some grocery planning and shopping.
And eat some more strawberries (hallelujah!)
And open all the windows.
And catch up on blogs.
And go on a bike ride.

Mmmm... it is so good to be here.
You know how everyone's house has a smell, but you can never smell your own?
When we came in our door last night there were a few minutes where Travis and I just stood and smelled.
After a long trip, you learn what you smell like to other people.
Like old musty houses. Like sugar and honey. Like pages and pages of books.

I wish I could still smell it now, but I think the fact that I can't is okay.
This is our home.
Oh, I love it like mad.

Update on Africa

Remember how we're going to KENYA this summer to film a documentary?

Well NOW we're also going to UGANDA! We'll be filming two documentaries there as well for Help International. Travis did a doc for them last week for Tipping Bucket. (Check it out, and think about adding a drop to the bucket -- just a dollar donation is all they're asking for!)

Two of my friends will also be in Uganda with Help International this summer, Paige and Nicole and I'm excited to think I might get to see them working to change the world, and bring sight to the sightless. Check out the Help International Website, or just watch this three minute film and learn all 'bout what we be doing this summer.
YAY!

And if you've forgotten what we're doing in Kenya, then check out Komaza's website and learn a little bit more about micro farming. We'll be making a doc about them first!

Thanksgivins

We are leaving today.
In two and a half hours.
To drive to Montana.

I've been preparing all week.
No, I haven't been catching up on homework, don't be silly!

I've been making a mental list of all the things to not forget.

Been prepping my stomach for more food than it's used to (quite a feat, it's used to a lot!)

Been burning and then decorating a slew of CDs to listen to in the car.

My computer is charging as we speak.

My mind is racing with road trip food that we can't forget to pick up.

ooooh, Beef Jerky! I want to eat you NOW!

Family, I will see you soon. Maybe you'd best start mentally preparing yourselves for us, too.

taking a trip

Travis went to the Salt Flats for the night to help film a short documentary.
He probably won't even be gone a full 24 hours.
He also doesn't even sleep at my house.
In all actualilty, him leaving isn't really going to force us to be apart for much longer than normal.

So tell me why it makes me so sad to have him leave?

alive travis

"do not ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. and then go and do that. because what the world needs is people who have come alive." ~ howard thurman

Kendra had this quote on her blog.

It made me think of this boy, being carried away by a kite:
