For the last two years I have seen dozens of pictures and heard hundreds of stories of one young man.
I did not meet this boy because he was in Hong Kong, serving a mission.
But he is the love of Kaylie Jean's life, so he is a hot topic of conversation.
One week ago today, he returned home from Hong Kong to New Jersey, where Kaylie waited with his family to greet him.
Today he came to Utah, where I waited with my friends to greet him, touch him, to realize that he was real, (it felt like reuniting with him, because I know so much about him!)
Today, Lj said this: First of all, I wanted to say it's Kendra's birthday so happy birthday, Second, thank you all for coming, and Third, I want to ask a question.
Then he dropped to one knee. Then he proposed to Kaylie Jean.
Then I inexplicably BURST into tears. I didn't even cry when I got engaged. Then I sat shaky, and watched Claire sob, and Kendra get red and flushed, and Brooke start hyperventalting, and Trav just laughed and laughed at me and my hysterics.
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad that Trav and I went to the Hancock's house tonight.
It was wonderful. It was fantastic. It was not a let down.
OHMYGOODNESS. Kaylie and I are getting married.
and again the creepiness, but I stole this picture from Kaylie's facebook because it is my ALL TIME favorite picture of Kaylie and Lj, it has sat by Kaylie's bedside for as long as I've known her.
It makes me happy to see it.
I hope it's okay that I'm blogging about her engagement before she does.
Oops.
I love love.
p.s. Travis claims that he could tell from the MOMENT that we walked in the door that Lj was going to propose tonight. He was not surprised. Where as I didn't even SUSPECT until Lj was down on one knee.
I heard Lj say "I want to ask a question"and thought he was going to ask a rhetorical question, maybe have us ponder something, because he's Tongan I thought that this might be the beginning of some sort of cheer.
Really. Am I completely oblivious?
