Some mornings
my breakfast is delicious, nutritious, highly photogenic.

if you use photoshop and "save for web", it will open your file in a new program that lets use adjust just how it will look in different formats and various levels of compression, and then save it in that form. As long as your files are jpeg and below the minimum, blogger doesn't compress them any more. viola, you have control. Wow, now that I write that all out, it sounds like a pain.
ps. what's wrong with your toaster.
