Waldo and Tim join the family

Pumpkin Carving for FHE this week was a blast! Too bad I've been too sick to do anything productive this week, including writing on my blog or reading anyone else's blog.
Good news, though, I feel better and tomorrow is HALLOWEEN!
To see how my family is handling halloween, check out the Froelich Blog. Mary's kicking butt!

You are jealous of my goofy husband, aren't you? I looove him. I love this pictures. He is silly.

My pumpkin isn't as elaborate as his, because I was busy cooking and cleaning seeds. Plus it's hard to be artsy while stabbing something with a knife.
We named Travis' pumpkin Tim and mine Waldo.

Ooooh, Happy Halloween!

p.s. Our costumes are in progress and will be totally AWESOME!

Wedding Pictures

Sorry for my lack of time and energy, but look at the rest of Christine's beautiful pictures of the wedding on my facebook. (You can look even if we're not friends, or you don't have a facebook. Just click on the link.)

wedding HOLGAS!

Our quick photographer has gotten us our Holga photos from the big day, with the rest of the photos on their way! Check out how great they are on her website. Sadly, some turned out dark, and some turned out too bright, but the unique and temperamental nature of a plastic camera is what makes us love it so much!

Aren't they lovely!
I cannot wait to see the digital pictures! eeek, the suspense!

grown up

Can you believe it?
My little sister is 18.

Happy Birthday Mary, I'm sorry this post isn't more exciting.

I love you and can't wait to see you soon.

(p.s. If you're getting married soon, consider having Mary as your maid of honor. You wouldn't believe how wonderful she is and how much she takes care of.)

Chicken

I roasted my very first chicken a few nights ago.
It was so exciting that I documented the entire process in photographs. (Travis documented the whole process on film. He says it's our first real Home Movie.)
The chicken went through seven stages, as seen below:
Jamie Oliver used a different type of chicken when he did it. I think, based on his recipe, that he wanted me to kill a chicken from my garden and use that.
So instead I used a Martha Stewart recipe. I'm telling you, though. They're both brilliant. I love them.

Honeymoon Hike

One thing that Travis and I did on our honeymoon is go on a hike to Stewart Falls (Travis tricked me into going by saying it was a walk. After I realized it wasn't a walk he corrected himself by saying "Well, it's a very aggressive walk")
To pacify me, he let me be in charge of the camera. I know pictures of tree and overlooking mountain shots get boring, but I got into collage mode last night and now you have to look at all my pretty pictures.
Which is your favorite? (*hint: click on them for bigger, thus prettier pictures*)
This collage is called "Fall Colors" (I was very creative with my names)
This one is "Grey Things"
This collection of pictures is "Pretty Things"
"Travis and Becky" This one is especially for mom-type figures who only ever want to see pictures with faces.
and of course "Stewart Falls"

October is a lovely month.

BYU

Dad says, if you hate going to school, you’re taking the wrong classes.
He said drop French and take a class where you take pictures of food.
But I have to take four more semesters of French to graduate,
even though it’s not my major or my minor.
I have to take five more semesters of religion, and one of physical science, and geography, even though I already passed Chemistry, and all I want to study is writing.
I want to minor in film, without adding another year of school.
Because every class I take, except maybe one a semester, even within my major, is pure torture.
Now that I’m married I understand those women who drop out of college after they get hitched.
I want to be among those women, even though I know a degree is important.
Even though I want to do something with my life and have more than just a high school diploma.
But they won’t let me take cooking or photography unless I change my major,
and I have yet to hear of a class where I just take pictures of food.

photobooty

the title was a mis-type, but I like it. I'm totally keeping it.

Anyways. I laid six photobooth strips side by side and scanned them on to one big sheet. Then I cropped them into my new header, which by the way, I am crazy about.
Because it's crazy.

All six of those were taken the day before the wedding.
They feature: Mary my sister
Lisa my mostly sister
Travis my now husband
and yours truly.

Fun, no?

Babies

Before I begin, everybody take a deep breath. This post absolutely does not mean that Travis and I are 1. Having a baby or 2. Trying to have a baby, neither is true.

Neither am I seriously considering dropping out of school, I’m just sick of midterms and getting up every day, and stupid, freaking generals.

(It has recently come to my attention that SOME people take all the things I write on my blog to be literal and completely accurate. Please know that as a teenager my father called me the Queen of Hyperbole. That might still stand true.)

Now, on to the post…

Most of you know that it is almost impossible for me to pass a baby (especially a cute one) without pulling faces at it, and that if I’m sitting in church with a baby across the aisle, I pull out all the stops and try to get that baby to come play with me instead of its parents.

I’ve recently starting going through home videos and really most of them so far are of Kathryn, just a few months old. I cannot stop watching the videos. After Travis and I watched a video just of Kathryn cooing and gurgling for forty-five minutes (Really, it’s VERY hard to stop. She’s the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen.) Travis said “What is it about being married that makes people want to have a baby?”

To that I add, “Who knows? but no freaking kidding.”

We saw a preview for a baby movie before the Wild Things (which was brilliant, BTW) and it made me cry, because I love babies.

Oh my goodness. This is a hard week because I want a baby to play with, even if it’s not mine, and I absolutely do NOT want to get up and go to school.

All of a sudden I COMPLETELY understand women who drop out of school to start making babies after they get married.

I even have a mad desire to JOIN them.

Keep your pants on. That’s not what I’ll do. I WANT a degree.

But you know, it wouldn’t be so bad if I got a baby.

In fact, I say it’d be kinda nice.

I LOVE this picture. I'm completely crazy about it.

Sister Lisa saves the day!

There are finally some wedding pictures up!
Look at them on Lisa's blog.

p.s. If you want me to keep writing, I could use some encouragement. Does anyone read this besides my mom and sisters?

Sir Ian knows what's going on

Things I'd rather be doing

baking souffles
baking a pie
baking pumpkin seeds
baking and frosting animal shaped sugar cookies

playing in leaves
playing with my Holga
playing with Travis in our yard

editing pictures
taking pictures
printing pictures
posting pictures
putting pictures up in my house
looking at pictures from my wedding

going to sleep
going to the store
going on a date
going to see my family
going to watch HP at the dollar theater

snuggling up with hot chocolate
snuggling up in front of a movie
snuggling up next to my husband
snuggling up instead of going to school

Things I have to do today that I REALLY don't want to:

Go to class
Go to work
Do my reading
Do some writing
Take a quiz
Take my meds
Take my lunch with me
Pay attention
Pay the rent
Leave my house and my bed, and the warmth of Travis snuggled up next to me.

Bah.
Being married in the middle of the semester makes going back to school impossibly difficult.
I cannot wait for Thanksgiving Break.

Family Home Evening

As Mormons, we're asked that one night a week we have a family night, for most families that night is Monday. Our first family night was on our Honeymoon, so pretty much we laid in bed and read the Proclaimation to the World before falling asleep.

So last night was the Becky and Travis Pitcher Family's first real Family Home Evening and in our house, too!
We had big plans, you know, raking all of our leaves and jumping in them, carving our pumpkins, eating toasted seeds and oatmeal cookies.

Instead, we did all of our laundry, organized the majority of the living room, we made a tasty casserole for dinner (that really made me feel like a wife!) we did have oatmeal cookies, and then to celebrate the beginning of our family we watched one of my old home videos.
It was fantastic.

Many of you have seen the video of Chelsea dancing on the dock for a boy down the shore, unaware of my family filming from up the hill in the house.
Fewer I think have seen the video of Jack's best friend Sam trying to catch a butterfly by leaping and clutching the air, followed by his defeated stomp, hunchbacked up the hill to the house.
Combined with the elaborate film that the Haggen girls and I wrote and starred in, in which Emma was kidnapped by Kayla and saved by Mia and I, made our evening completely enjoyable, despite the lack of raking and carving.

Maybe we'll carve our pumpkins tonight.
Maybe tomorrow.
Maybe we'll save them for our next family home evening.

I'm back.

Sort of.
It's been really really crazy hard to write on my blog lately.
Not just because I'm pressed for time, but because if I go back to reading and checking blogs and doing all my normal things than everything must be back to normal.
Can you blame me? I don't want the honeymoon to end!

Speaking of honeymoon... it was lovely. We hung out in Salt Lake and other areas. Travis made me hike through a mountain to a waterfall, so I made him hike through several malls to several different Gaps.
It's only fair, I think.
We have pictures of the honeymoon, but again, I don't feel like getting things done.

Except that we ARE getting things done. Yesterday we went to IKEA and bought some shelves, and stuff to hang pots and pans, and our kitchen is becoming better, better, BETTER! It will take lotsa more work, but it's nice to work on my home with my husband.

So because this has a sad lack of pictures, and my photographers (official being Christine, and unofficial being Lisa and Dad) have not actually shown me any pictures from the wedding yet, I will give you a couple links to wedding pictures taken by my friends and family. Lana, Grandma Mary, Lisa, and Grandma Marcie

Love always,
Mrs. Pitcher

creamed crazy

I cannot stop baking.
I think as I get closer to my wedding (FIVE FREAKING DAYS!) I have two things forcing me to bake.
1. I feel like I should be doing something, but there's not a lot to be done, so I meticulously measure, whip, and put things in the oven.
2. I am feeling especially home-makery, and express my desire to be a good wife by baking.

Today I made whipped cream (not actually baking...) because every time that I walk by the Kitchen Aid it whispers to me "Becky, wouldn't you like some whipped cream on those Cheerios?" or "Becky, that spicy soup could use some whipped cream."
Today I gave in and made some whipped cream.
"I'll just stand here and watch your hips grow," said Grandma as I ate a spoonful of whipped goodness.
Then I needed to make an excuse as to why I needed whipped cream.
Hot chocolate, of course. So then I needed to drink several cups of hot chocolate to use up the whipped cream.

Totally worth it.

no.

My most recent post was a lie.
Today is not, as I supposed, Saturday.

Today is Friday.
My wedding is in one week, and one day.

A moment ago I had a moment of panic. It went like this:

Becky's thoughts: "Isn't today Conference? Why aren't we watching conference? BYU wouldn't have an Alumni Reunion on Conference Saturday, but we're at an Alumni Reunion! Is Conference next weekend? IS MY WEDDING ACTUALLY TWO WEEKS AWAY?!"
Hyperventilating, and etc.
Asking Travis why we aren't watching Conference.
Travis being confused.
Becky being confused.
Travis telling Becky that today is only Friday.

Being engaged is making me crazy.
More crazy than usual.
EXTRA-crazy.

one week

one week and I'll be getting MARRIED!
that countdown is totally off.
A DAY off.

This close to the day, that really matters.

So, if you want to get me a present, here are some things I've been dying for lately.
Or, if you don't want to get me a present, or have already gotten me a present, this is just a bakers wish list.
Bread pans, if I had bread pans I could make something that looks like this:

Creme brulee dishes, so I could make these little beauties:

Souffle dishes, because who doesn't want to eat this after dinner?

aaand tart pans, (little ones mostly, but big ones too!):

P.S. I didn't take this pictures, but I want to be a food photographer.

Who can blame me for listening to Christmas music?

It certainly feels like the Holiday season.
It's cold outside, I drink hot cocoa or tea with my breakfast, and presents arrive on my doorstep every day.

I am usually too busy to write, (I'm sorry my blog has been lacking in posts.)
But today when we opened the door we got the most exciting gift yet.
It was wrapped in a big red bag, and white bow, like Santa just dropped it off.
and inside was a shiny beautiful Kitchen Aid Mixer.

I'm almost excited to write Thank You letters, because I'm so psyched for this present, and others. (Thanks to my Auntie and Uncle)
Some other favorites: A big basket of cleaning supplies, a beautiful Bridal Shower, which I know I didn't write about because I'm so lazy, but was amazing thanks to my wonderful friends, lovely copper-lined steel cookware, and lots of pretty dishes and kitchen supplies.
Thanks to all,
I am LOVING this part of being engaged.

Everyday is like Christmas.

(p.s. Bridal Shower pictures and stories can be found on dear Lana's blog, if you're interested.)

p.s.s. Imagine in your mind for a minute a little girl who is not allergic to hay and doesn't swell up around barnyard animals. This little girl loves ponies.
Now pretend that she got a new, shiny, perfect little pony.
I would say that when I unwrapped the Kitchen Aid, I screamed like a little girl, but I doubt little girls scream over Kitchen Aids. I screamed like a grown up girl who finally got her hypo-allergenic pony.
Of course, this pony of course requires little care, and works for you in the kitchen.
